What I Offer…

The image of a sprout signifies the connection that any outward appearance or manifestation, stems from a root cause.  A sprout also represents growth, expansion, movement, and change.  Your journey to resolve your chief concern will likely include some growth, movement, and change, no matter how subtle.

My goal is to understand what’s causing your concern so I can help your body re-establish its natural state of health.  Instead of a bandage solution, I want to help your system regulate so you can feel like your best self.

I often use the metaphor that our body is like an integrated water system, with streams, springs, aquifers, and lakes. Where there is debris, sediment, rocks, boulders, or logs in the way, it affects the flow of water upstream and downstream.  Once this clog effects the adjacent streams, its similar to how one organ system dysfunction spills into another.  This congestion IS what presents as a symptom.  My role is to discover where your system is congested and help remove the metaphorical rocks that block your body from maintaining homeostasis.  Your body has everything it needs to stay healthy and vibrant, it sometimes just needs a nudge in the right direction.  With the focused intent of a practitioner and the skilled used of an acupuncture needle, I hope to help you along on your journey.

Before Your Session…

Eat a regular sized meal.  Acupuncture can get things moving and use up some of your energy.  The more resource your body has available, the easier it is to integrate information and the effects of treatment during and after your session.

Wear loose fitted comfortable clothing, so its easy to roll up your sleeves and pant legs to above your elbows and knees.

Please fill out the intake form before you arrive.  If you don't, we'll have to use valuable treatment time to fill it out!  If you aren't tech savvy and distrust computers [like me!], then please show up 15m prior to fill out the form on a tablet or dry erase.  I will discuss the consent form in person as well.

If for whatever reason you are feeling unwell, please cancel and re-book at a later date.

During Your Session…

DURING YOUR SESSION I will ask a series of questions that clarify and delve into the intake form you've filled out.

Questions vary from physical signs and symptoms to emotional and lifestyle habits.

I will do a tongue and pulse diagnosis, as well as palpate from the elbows and knees down to feel for physical changes on the channels, or meridians.

Once I have gathered enough information, I'll explain what my hypothesis is, how I plan to treat you, what to expect from the session. I’ll touch on your treatment plan, the consent form, and any take-home recommendations. You will have enough time to ask any questions you may have.

The treatment itself will consist of any of the modalities listed here, catered to your unique presentation. Everyone is different, and every day is different, so you won’t get the exact same treatment every time. As you change, the points chosen and tools used adapt.

If your needle shy, I strive to use only 4-6 needles per front and back treatment. If you are really uncomfortable with needles, there are many tools available so I can do an entire session without. In fact, this is what the GLASS CUPPING INITIAL INTAKE and FOLLOW-UP sessions are for.

If your a bit more uncertain, or skeptical about the process, I cater the intake and session to each person.  My goal is for you to feel as comfortable as possible, because the more relaxed you are, the more your body will benefit and respond.

After Your Session…

As temping as it may be to run a marathon or check off all your errands, this can work against the subtle changes we've put in motion. This helps your body integrate the full effects of treatment.

Drink lots of water

Do your best to rest:

  • For at least an hour, limit stimulation, like cell phones, computers, TV, or socializing.

  • Rest includes simple activities like going for a leisurely walk, napping, zoning out, enjoying a simple meal, or doing something you love for yourself.

  • Try to avoid thinking, ruminating or mentally exerting yourself.

  • Allow your body to process and integrate the effects of treatment.
